These are knitted flat with a side seam.
Size: 8” wide x 9” long. A 2 x2 ribbed rectangle.
Stitch: 2 x 2 rib
Yarn: any that will knit on a 6mm needle.
Weighs: 70 gm for both mittens.
Needles: 6mm
METHOD:
CO 30 st. (I use the crochet chain method.)
Set up rib so that the first 2 st are knit and the last 2 st are knit on
Row 1, Knit 2, Purl 2…………………………..end with Knit 2 stitches.
Row 2, Purl 2, knit 2……………………………end with Purl 2 stitches.
Repeat: these 2 rows.
(This allows for 1 stitch at each end for seaming to enable the mitten to appear to be circular knit.)
Knit to 9” long and cast off.
Sew side seam to where you would like the “thumb” opening to be. Leave open space for thumb and continue to sew edge.
I finished the fingers end with a crochet edge for a bit of decorative interest.
