Knit Gauge………the before & after washing.

The Knit Club topic of “measuring gauge ” before and after testing and processing. The 3 ladies made up a “before and after” processing swatch. All were washed. They were done on three different knitting machines and we were shown how each brand approached measuring the gauge differently. Passap on the left, Studio/Singer/Silver Reed in the middle, Brother on the right side of the picture.

As you you can see in the picture, washing does matter. The pink one felt much, much softer than the non washed sample. Others grew in length and/or width or both. All had visible changes to the swatch.
