My Lucy Bag project.

This design is too good to ignore. It can be handknit from the instructions or adapted to the knitting machine. The pattern was offered on the Lion Brand Yarn website. The stages of making a “Lucy Bag”. This design was developed by 2 women who call themselves “The Two Old Bags”. I have knit the bag according to their instructions, but using a different yarn.

The felted finished bag weighs 185 gm. The yarn must be 100% wool, that has not a been labeled as a superwash wool;  superwash wool will not felt.

Felting has been done in a “top loading” domestic washing machine. Mine felted in 12 min on the delicate cycle.

Hindsight recommendation: Shoulder strap could be shorter than required/suggested in the original pattern. I cut off 5 in. after felting.

  1. I could not find the pattern on the Lion Brand site. Can you tell me what yarn it was supposed to be made of? That might help me locate it.
