Left over yarn………..what shall I make

A babies hat. I have a specific baby in mind. A girl that will enter the world any day now.

Cast on 66 stitches. I used a 5mm needle.
A few rows of Garter stitch, stockinet stitch, a couple of rows of seed stitch. You can follow the picture or make up your own spacing of the rows.

Decrease the crown as desired.

Most knitters have a favorite method.

A job well done

SCARVES for the Special Olympians competing in the Winter Games in St. Albert/Jasper, Alberta, Canada the games in Feb/Mar 2012.

3 local Machine Knitting clubs pooled their work. The Burlington Machine Knitters Guild, the Superb club from Hamilton and the Cambridge Machine Knitters.

A local businessman who is associated with the Civitan organization, came forward with an offer to ship the scarves.

The picture of the gentleman adorned is a local Special Olympian.

Good news………my Special Olympics scarf has been chosen for the Facebook page.

I don’t participate on Facebook, so I really don’t know where.
I am honored to have my work chosen. There are so many lovely scarves that have been knitted for this project.

Vacation Yarn scarf

I purchased this yarn while on vacation last fall. It is Plymouth Kudo yarn. Mostly cotton and rayon with a bit of silk.
The coloring is much like the long colour spaced Noro yarns.
Nice to work with, but not warm enough to wear for my climate.
It would be nice used as a collar on a garment. Now to find the appropriate yarn for a garment that would compliment the Kudo.
My challenges keep multiplying.

“That is fantastic! Good job and many thanks to your local businessman.
I also received an e-mail that the Edmonton Newcomers club just donated 28 scarves today. I think that puts our totals over 1500. Still a thousand to go so can’t get complacent yet!! but it is getting exciting!
thank you again so much!”

Our local knitters are at approx 80 scarves.

Apple I Pad cover&carrier bag

This is a fun project. I had 1 skein of Noro Iro , 100 gm. languishing for approx 2 years waiting for the perfect project. I’m pleased with it.
